Long serving buildings create stable lives, desirable communities, and community assets. This project is now serving in its third year of a fine home for a young family. Taxes are paid, the neighborhood collects a + for another fine home, and a family is secure under a new roof. Though our culture often looks to first cost, or to "splash" the real value is over time, and holding financial as well as human assets. Permanence should be valued higher in our culture. :~( Regrettably it is not, for now.

Bill,
great blog! I'm glad to hear your Reetz Ave home is holding up well. Are you doing any other energy efficient remodels you'd be interested in writing up in Home Energy magazine? We published an article about you and the demo project soon after the ACI 2008 conference: http://www.homeenergy.org/article_full.php?id=584
Best wishes,
